Should You Consider MSC Poesia's Yacht Club for your Alaska Adventure?
When MSC Cruises announced that MSC Poesia would be sailing in Alaska, I thought it was an interesting addition to their lineup. Then I found out the ship was getting an entirely new MSC Yacht Club as part of a major refurbishment.
That changed everything.
If you've ever talked with me about MSC, you already know I'm a big fan of Yacht Club. I've sailed there three different times on other MSC ships, and every cruise reminded me why I enjoy it so much.
Just as important, my clients keep coming home saying many of the same things I do. They talk about how relaxing the experience was, how attentive the staff were, and how much they appreciated having a quiet place to retreat after spending the day enjoying the ship or exploring ashore. They also love the extra touches that make them feel so special.

A Classic Ship with a Fresh New Look
MSC Poesia first entered service in 2008, but she headed to Alaska with a whole new look in the spring of 2026. Before beginning her Alaska season, the ship underwent an extensive refurbishment that included the addition of MSC Yacht Club, along with several other enhancements throughout the ship.
Guests will also find Butcher's Cut Steakhouse, Kaito Sushi Bar, refreshed public spaces, an updated spa, and improvements to several other onboard areas. The result is a ship that feels fresh while still offering the comfortable layout many travelers appreciate.
Personally, I like ships in this size range. Don't get me wrong—I enjoy the larger ships, too. But there's something nice about learning your way around in a day or two instead of feeling like you need a map every time you leave your suite. Poesia has plenty of restaurants, lounges, entertainment, and activities if you want to venture outside the Yacht Club area without feeling overwhelmed, and I think that's part of her appeal.
Why I Think Yacht Club Is Such a Great Fit for Alaska
My clients and I have enjoyed Yacht Club in places like the Caribbean and Europe, but I honestly think Alaska may be one of the best places to experience everything it has to offer.
An Alaska cruise is so heavily about the scenery—glaciers, waterfalls, snow-capped mountains, and incredible wildlife.
One morning you're standing on the quiet Yacht Club outer deck watching a glacier slowly come into view. Later, you may be sitting on your balcony, hands wrapped around a favorite beverage while watching humpback whales, bald eagles, or bears along the shoreline. Every day brings another incredible view, and that's exactly why so many people put Alaska on their bucket list.
Pair that spectacular scenery with the pampering of your non-crowded, upscale "ship within a ship" private club, and I think you've got something pretty special.
One of the things I appreciate most about Yacht Club is that it gives you options. If you want to enjoy all the entertainment, restaurants, and activities throughout the ship, they're all there waiting for you. But when you're ready to relax, you can head back to the quieter atmosphere of the Top Sail Lounge, the private sundeck, or your included private restaurant.
Yacht Club's Top Sail Lounge may be my favorite venue on any cruise ship. It's where I go to relax, read, enjoy a coffee or cocktail, take in the forward-facing views, chat or play games with friends, watch scheduled and impromptu entertainment, the Captain's private YC members' meet-and-greet, or simply settle in with my laptop when I need to get a little work done.
I think that's especially valuable in Alaska. After spending hours ashore hiking, taking a wildlife cruise, riding the White Pass Railway, or exploring one of Alaska's charming towns, it's nice to return to a space that feels calm instead of crowded. Settle into a comfortable chair with a cappuccino, enjoy a cocktail before dinner while entertainers perform exclusively for Yacht Club guests, or simply watch the scenery from the lounge as the ship continues its journey.
Those quieter moments become part of the vacation, too.

It's the Entire Experience That Makes the Difference
When people talk about Yacht Club, it's easy to focus on the individual amenities. Yes, the butler service is wonderful. The concierge is incredibly helpful. The private restaurant is excellent, and I love not being tied to assigned dining times. Priority embarkation is a great way to begin your vacation, and priority disembarkation is something you'll appreciate even more at the end of the cruise.
But for me, it isn't any one of those things that makes Yacht Club special.
It's how everything comes together.
After three Yacht Club sailings, I've realized it's often the little things I remember most. Having coffee and my choice of newspaper delivered to my suite while I get ready for the day. Stopping by the lounge for an Americano and light breakfast in the morning or a cocktail before dinner while enjoying the incredible view from the front of the ship through its expansive windows. Walking back after a busy shore excursion and knowing I have a quiet place to unwind.
Individually, those moments may seem small.
Together, they create a vacation that feels remarkably relaxing.

Why We Recommend Yacht Club
